February 18, 2006

On Saturday, February 18, at the Ritz Charles in Carmel, close to 400
Republicans honored our first Republican president, Abraham Lincoln, by
attending our Lincoln Day Dinner. Our featured speaker was U.S.
Senator Richard Lugar. Senator Lugar first greeted
Republicans at a pre-dinner reception, where he and
Representative Brian Bosma, Speaker of the Indiana House, spoke.
For dinner,
State Senator Mike Delph led us in our pledge of allegiance.
Miss Indiana, Noblesville's own Susan Guilkey, sang our national
anthem, and State Senator Luke Kenley gave the invocation. We were
also honored to have our newly elected State Republican Chairman, Murray
Clark, address the dinner crowd. Noblesville Mayor John
Ditslear introduced all elected officials and candidates who were in
attendance.
Senator Lugar gave an outstanding speech on how our energy consumption affects our
foreign policy, and what we need to do to develop alternative energy sources.
Overall, Lincoln Dinner was one of our best ever, and I
would like to thank the volunteers who
helped make the event successful: Jennifer Hayden, Leslie Huber, Teresa
Thompson, Janet Jaros, Jo Rhodes, Lori Jannsen, and Mike Colby.
Charlie White.
